Fundamental difference in the reactivity of the blood vessels in skin compared with those in muscle; blood flow response in these two beds to ischemia, and to intra-arterial injections of methacholine, epinephrine and noradrenalin before and after administration of antiadrenergic drugs.

چکیده
Blood flow was measured with the electromagnetic flowmeter in the saphenous artery bed (cutaneous) and in the distal femoral and popliteal beds (muscle). The effects of ischemia and of intraurterial injection with methacholine, 1-epinephrine and 1-norepinephrine were studied before and again after each injection of progressively increased doses of antiadrenergic drugs. These studies indicate a fundamental difference between the reactivity of cutaneous and muscular vascular beds.

Role of Local Nerves and Prostaglandins in Regulation of Basal Blood Flow and Hypercapnic Vasodilatation of Cerebral Blood Vessels in the Rabbit
The mechanisms underlying cerebral vasodilatation during hypercapnia are not fully understood. To examine the role of nerves and prostaglandins in the regulation of basal blood flow and in hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in the cerebral blood vessels of rabbit.Cerebral blood flow was measured by laser Doppler flow-meter in 18 NZW rabbits anesthetized with sodium pentobarbital. Tetrodetoxin ...
متن کاملAlterations in the vascular β-adrenoceptors of the rabbit knee joint due to acute inflammation
It has been shown that acute inflammation reduces the effectiveness of sympathetic nerves in the regulation of knee joint blood flow. To investigate the role of vascular β- adrenoceptors in this event, 12 NZW rabbits were maintained anaesthetized by 1 % halothane in N2O/O2, and acute knee joint inflammation was induced by intra-articular injection of 1 ml of 2% carageenan solution 24 hours be...
متن کاملEffect of epinephrine and cortisol on fasting-induced ghrelin secretion in male rats fed different levels of their energy requirement
Introduction: ghrelin is a potent orexigenic agent in rodents and humans. Some studies have shown that ghrelin participates in the adaptive response to weight loss and plasma concentration of ghrelin rises with dieting. On the other hand, weight loss and fasting is accompanied by increased levels of epinephrine and cortisol. In this study, we investigated the effects of epinephrine and corti...
متن کاملRole of Nitric Oxide and ATP-Sensitive K+ Channels in Regulation of Basal Blood Flow and Hypercapnic Vasodilatation of Cerebral Blood Vessels in Rabbit
Background: The mechanisms underlying cerebral hypercapnic vasodilatation are not fully understood. Objective: To investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) and ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in basal blood flow regulation and hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in rabbit cerebral blood vessels. Methods: The change in cerebral blood flow was measured by a laser Doppler flowmeter in 18 Ne...
متن کاملInvestigation of Response to Angiotensin (Ang ) and its Receptor Subtypes in Acutely Inflamed Joint Blood Vessels in Rabbit
Introduction: Inflammatory joint diseases are common in elderly, and regulation of joint blood flow (JBF) is important in these conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the response of inflamed joint blood vessels to angiotensin (Ang ), a vasoconstrictor factor which has been shown to be produced in inflamed joints locally. Identification of Ang receptor subtypes in joint blood ve...
